What is Carmel Speech & Debate?
The Carmel High School Speech & Debate Team is comprised of over 100 students in grades 9-12. These young people compete at tournaments across Indiana and the National Tournament each year. Participating in speech and debate builds confidence, spurs creativity, encourages collaboration, improves communication, and increases critical thinking skills to prepare students for the workplace.
Recent competitors are now attending elite colleges such as Princeton, Cornell, Harvard, and the University of Pennsylvania, just to name a few. With your assistance, these students can build futures that will benefit our city, adding to Carmel's national reputation as a stellar place to raise a family.
Ranked twice as a National School of Excellence and 5x District Champions, the Carmel HS Speech & Debate Team was reestablished in 2016 and has won 2 State Debate Competitions, is the current state runner-up, and 16 students qualified for Nationals in 2024!
This engaged group of dedicated students, along with their experienced coaches, are seeking financial support for their trip to the NSDA National Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.
